CHARLOTTE AI INSTITUTE (CLTAI2)
Catalyzing Artificial Intelligence Research & Innovation Today for a Better Tomorrow
Artificial intelligence is transforming teaching and learning, research, medicine, business processes and much more. UNC Charlotte—as a R1 university and a primary driver of our region’s economy—is embracing AI technology while providing guidance to faculty, staff and students for navigating its ethical considerations.
UNC Charlotte is committed to the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence to enhance academic and administrative endeavors. Our vision is to create an institutional environment where faculty, staff and students can engage with AI technologies to enhance teaching, learning, research and operations, while upholding the highest standards of responsibility and integrity.
AI is an inevitable part of the workforce students will enter—and Charlotte is shaping its next-generation. They must be prepared—regardless of their field—not only to use AI tools proficiently but to continue to learn as technology advances.
Charlotte faculty are developing and applying AI technology in exciting and meaningful ways across nearly all disciplines. Interdisciplinary collaborations, Charlotte AI Institute, Research Centers, and recently funded IGNITE centers have emerged and are growing rapidly.
The Center for Teaching and Learning offers recurring professional development opportunities including workshops and events throughout the academic year. The AI Task Force Report guides the campus with an AI philosophy and provides college-level and university-wide recommendations.
AI tools are available for performing work efficiently and delivering high-quality outcomes.
From food delivery robots to painting field lines for gameday, cleaning around campus—and more, Charlotte is at the forefront of higher education AI adoption.
